Last month I did not do one of these posts because I had no intention of buying anything, and instead I impulse shopped my way through the month. So this month I’m bringing it back to keep me on track. A couple things I have already bought, and most of this list is dependent on the Sephora semi-annual sale being in April, I won’t be buying any of these skincare or makeup products if the Sephora sale does not happen this month.
One. Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara. I’ve been influenced to try this, mostly by Whitney Simmons on Instagram and TikTok, but I am also due a new mascara and so am thinking that I will try this one next. I have not been loyal to a mascara since this Revlon one in high school in a red tube that they don’t make anymore and haven’t made in years.
Two. Black High Top Converse. I think I’m going to make black high tops my Doc of the spring/fall, and then white sneakers for summer obviously.
Three. Summer Fridays Midnight Ritual Retinol Renewal Serum. I think that it is time for me to start using more specifically anti-aging products, but I don’t want to spend too much right away and I’m still scared of retinol, and Summer Fridays is known to be really gentle, which is where I would like to start.
Four. Supergoop Glow Screen Sunscreen. This is my favourite face sunscreen I have ever used. I’ve tried the Unseen Sunscreen and I always feel like the stuff is just sitting on top of my skin rather than absorbing, I also just love the finish of the Glow Screen, especially in the summer. This is the only skincare product I’m likely to buy even if the Sephora sale doesn’t happen this month.
Five. Monos The Carry On. I had to use my old case last week to go to a conference and I hated it. I feel like these new sandwich style, hard-sided suitcases hold so much more stuff than the soft-sided, clamshell suitcases we all used to have. I am prioritizing getting a new carry-on sized suitcase this month.
Six. Topicals High Roller Ingrown Hair Tonic with AHA and BHA. It’s that time of year.
Seven. Herbivore Moon Dew 1% Bakuchiol + Peptides Retinol Alternative Eye Cream. See my above comments about anti-aging skincare.
Not pictured, already bought:
Eight. Sheer mock neck top. I want this to layer under my slip dress.
Nine. Packing cubes. I am starting to think about prepping for what will be an adventure in July and I really don’t want to have to pay for a checked bag, so I am going to see if I can fit a five day sorority convention, two days in New York, a family wedding, my 30th birthday and at least a week in England and Northern Ireland in a carry-on roller, and a backpack. So, I’m hoping these will help.
Other items that will be a must this month include: hand cream, a fly swatter, shampoo, toilet paper, bathroom cleaner, and maybe hand soap, but I might be able to push that until May.
Not all of this is guaranteed this month. I’m not certain about everything yet, but I want to really properly plan my purchases this month.
I’m also trying so hard to avoid the temptation to buy clothes, the weather is getting so nice and I just want to wear cute new spring clothes, but I set a challenge for myself to not buy any clothes from February to May and I’m determined to stick to it.
