After a few months of really hefty empties posts it feels very nice to have a slightly more normal level of empties this month.
I also am slightly annoyed with myself because three of these empties are because I can’t resist samples/trial sizes, particularly the Ouai samples because I requested them, whereas I didn’t even know the M.A.C. sample was in my bag until I got home. I also don’t like that none of these products are in recyclable or reusable containers, although I am glad that I have scratched the itch with the Ouai products, because I will not be repurchasing any of them. I think part of the annoyance comes from how influenceable I am, Ouai is one of the most Instagrammed/TikToked hair care brands there is, it’s nearly impossible to avoid, and I fell for the marketing. It could also be that I always feel the need to try something new, I don’t know what the reason for that is.
On a side note, I am extra annoyed because this post was done, and then I switched to the wordpress app to add a photo from my phone and all the text just disappeared. Colour me angry.

Ouai Detox Shampoo Sample Size. This shampoo was decent, I did like how it allowed me to extend the amount of time between hair washes, but I also felt like it was stripping the ends of my hair. They were feeling very dry. I will not be purchasing a full-size version of this.

Ouai Melrose Place Body Cleanser Sample Size. This was my favorite product of the sample set I got. I liked the scent, although it was definitely more perfumed than I normally go for, but nice. I also really like the suds that it created. I won’t be purchasing the full size version of this, partly because it is in plastic packaging and I don’t like it enough to switch from bar body wash to packaged body wash, and because it is too expensive for me ($37 CAD).

This is my second empty box of Align Probiotic and I am now about a month out from finishing this box. I don’t know if I’m going to buy another box, the first two weeks after I stopped taking them was a bit rough, but after that it wasn’t any different than while taking them. So I’m not sure, I’m not a total skeptic of probiotics, but I don’t know if it’s worth the money.

The usual contact lens waste.

Versed Day Maker Microcrystal Exfoliator. I really liked this, and I really liked how long it lasted, I bought it last June, so nearly a year. However, I think I am moving away from physical exfoliants to chemical exfoliants. It was nice on the face, but I think that it was even better after hair removal on the armpits and bikini line. If I don’t see the same results with just chemical exfoliants as I did with the combo of chemical and physical exfoliants (I don’t exfoliate daily), I will purchase this again.

M.A.C. Prep and Prime Fix+. This was the sample that was given to me in Sephora, it was nice, it definitely works. I don’t know that this sample is big enough to do a full review. But I don’t think I like it as much as the cult-classic Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray, but it is definitely better than the Ilia Blue Light Defense Setting Spray.
I can already tell based off the levels in some of my skincare products that July will be a heavier month than June was, but I do think I kind of had a reaction to last year’s frugality and now I need to figure out a balance in trying new products, wearing more makeup, having a scent, etc. and actually using everything that I buy and get given.
