October Empties

When I picked up my empties box today I thought it must be packed full because it was so heavy. It was decently full, but I think that most of the weight came from the couple empty glass containers that were in it rather than a great abundance of used up product. I also have nearly completed my Fall Cleaning Challenge and have a bag of cleaned out items, including some makeup products that I am never going to use up. I have fully realized that I am not a palette person, I need to stick to individual products, especially eye shadows. But I haven’t decided if I am going to do a post on those items yet or just figure out a way to dispose of them.

I got this candle from NWGoods in Dryden. It was quite nice, it burned nicely and for a decent length of time. I wanted it because I wanted a fall candle, but it was too sweet, it just wasn’t right. The scent also didn’t linger at all. I like a candle that smells the space even when it isn’t lit. I won’t be buying this again.

The usual contact lens accoutrement. This time with the addition of the boxes because I have hit the 6 month mark and used up a box of each eye.

I think this might be a first. I have used up an eyeliner. Although it may also have dried out from lack of use. I went to use it on Halloween night to line my lips and eyes for that cartoony look, but it was so dried out that I was barely able to line my bottom lip before it ran out. This is a good liner, I’m not re-buying any eyeliner at the moment, I’m not yet back out in the world enough to justify it. But this was a really good one. It did get a bit rough at the end so it wasn’t as sharply pointed anymore which meant it didn’t work as well. But I did like it overall. No pen eyeliner has yet to beat the KVD tattoo liner, but she’s an anti-vaxxer so I don’t buy her products.

This was one of the hand creams I bought during the worst of my eczema late last winter. My mum had it and while it generally made my hands feel better, it did not help my eczema at all. Overall, nice, but a bit sticky.

This was one of the items I bought in my Shoppers Drug Mart black-out in Kenora in June, so it lasted quite a long time. It definitely does do the brightening effect, so much so that I didn’t like it. It completely faded my usual summer freckles, which may be a good thing if that’s what you want, but I love my summer freckles (even if they are technically sun damage). I won’t be repurchasing, but I also was hoping for something slightly exfoliating, which this is not. I am going to try this Farmacy toner, but I’m waiting for the Sephora sale! Although, I’m not 100% sure if they do it in Canada. I’ve never tried it before, but I love that it comes packaged in a glass bottle.

I have been using this for years, I think this is my second or third bottle of it. My sister introduced me to it, she’s got oilier skin than I and we both really like it. Even my mum uses it now. I don’t think I’m going to re-purchase, even though I like it. I’m hoping to find something slightly more sustainably packaged. I’m considering this Ilia Blue Light Setting Spray. Although I’ve heard from optometrists that blue light glasses don’t actually do anything, so I don’t know if that applies to makeup products or not.

This was a Bridelwood Soaps Coffee Butter Scrub, I got it at this maker’s store in Oakville. It was alright, much greasier than I was expecting, too heavy for summer months, it would cause body break outs, but in the winter it made my skin look quite good. Although it would be hard to put jeans on after using it. I won’t be repurchasing, and not just because I don’t have anyway to get it here!

Overall, not bad this month! I like that two of my products are glass packaged, even though that really just means that they are part of the luggage I am bringing home for the holidays because I have enough jars and glass isn’t recyclable here.
