October State of the Union

This post idea literally just occurred to me. I was thinking about how I DNFed (did not finish) the only book I attempted to read in the month. I think in the future I will combine all of monthly recap style posts, the monthly empties, the what I reads in…, the financial fitness check ins, and the what I’m buyings (although those posts do really well SEO-wise, so maybe not) into this post. I often worry that I have too much Month in Review content, sometimes I’m style writing and posting month in review stuff by the 15th of the month, which seems like way beyond time to be over the monthly recap/planning content.

What I Read in September//

I attempted to read Island Queen by Vanessa Riley for nearly the past seven weeks. And it’s not that it’s not a good book, it is. But I’m having a really hard time with any media that centres, in any part, around a woman’s experience with sexual violence. It’s not because I don’t think it should be depicted, but I’m just so fed up with how every piece of media that is centred around a woman has sexual violence has her destroyer or her motivator. It’s why I’m not watching Blonde. I’m just so fed up with the only story a man can give a woman (or in the case of this book, a woman can give a woman) is rising up after rape.

Change car tires over to winter tires and get rid of old tires
Wash outsides of windows
Clean out fridge
Continue my morning walks as long as is tolerable
Finally clean out my utility closet (I’ve been saying I’ll do it for nearly 6 months now)
Put my old desk on Facebook Marketplace
Build cornhole boards
Actually read my books
