I am once again traveling for work and this time am in a town rather than a remote northern community and I did my tradition of ordering takeout and luxuriating in my hotel room bed and I got to thinking about how wonderful this little luxury is, and what other little luxuries make life more enjoyable.
Hot chocolate made with milk and marshmallows. It’s just so much richer and tastier than when it’s made with water; and it’s how my mom always made it, so this tastes like childhood. Although, when I was a kid we always had Ovaltine and then we moved to Canada and tried it here and it tastes so different here and is really gross. We literally have not had it since.
Enough time to drink coffee on the couch in the morning. Is there anything better than being wrapped in a blanket calmly drinking your coffee and knowing that you don’t have any rush to get ready or leave the house.
Hitting “ignore for the whole day” on my TikTok time limit. I am only able to do this on days when all my chores are done, I’m not working, my blog posts are all written and my videos are edited, sooooo it basically never happens.
Finishing a book in one sitting. There are so many luxuries wrapped up in this. You have enough time to spend several hours in a row reading, you have a book good enough to keep your attention for several hours and you are probably under a soft blanket on your couch or in your favourite chair.

Having a full line up of new videos from my favorite YouTubers. This is also something that basically never happens because I usually watch YouTube on lunch during the work week, but a full line up; especially if there is a Caroline Winkler interior decorating video or a HTHaze Taylor Swift album reaction. Chef’s kiss.
Stick with me on this one, planning a trip. Planning a trip is so fun, looking at what you can do in your destination, looking at restaurants and coffee shops, watching TikToks, scrolling Instagram and Pinterest for recommendations. And while a trip is a big luxury, I think planning can be a little luxury, because lord knows I’ve planned a lot of trips that I’ve never booked anything for.
What are your favourite little luxuries?
Laura
