I will never get over the magic of friendship.

You know that feeling you have when you leave a good friendship hang out and you literally feel like you are floating as you walk down the street, and like your heart is nearly glowing with how full it is.

Family is wonderful, and so are romantic relationships, but there is something about that warmth that a strong friendship brings that is just pure magic.

To me, the most magical part is the way that good friends can come back together after months or years apart and pick right back up like no time has passed. New hair cuts, different countries, thousands of kilometres. None of it matters with the right friends.

I was saying to the women I volunteer with that when I come back to Guelph, I can feel my soul settle into my body a bit more. And I do love this city truly but I think it is because this is where I made so many friends, where so many of my friends either are or return to.

I know that Taylor Swift’s song Invisible String is about romantic love, but I also love the idea that our friends were meant to be with us just as much as a romantic partner is.

“Isn’t it just so pretty to think, all along there was some invisible string tying you to me.”

Taylor Swift

I hope I always have friends in my life who send me bouncing down the road with a little ball of light in my chest.
